Do you remember the 21st night of September? I do. I made Girl Dinner and played Mario Kart. Ten out of ten, no notes.
Hmm…what else was memorable in September? First off, a huge congrats to the WGA for securing a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers after 146 days on the picket lines. SAG-AFTRA will be meeting with the AMPTP again beginning today, so fingers majorly crossed there.
The High Holidays came and went and for all my fellow members of The Tribe, L’Shana Tova! May this year be a healthy and successful one for you and your loved ones.
I attended Halloween Horror Nights and Universal Studios and can confirm what I thought going in…spooky season is not for me. But the spicy margs in the park? Very much for me. Universal always goes all out on theme food, and this was no exception.
Let’s discuss some other things from the past month that ARE for me and hopefully for you too…
Reading Lately
Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister
Our Reading Lately September book club pick! We had a blast discussing this twisty thriller over pumpkin flavored treats last month. If you read along with us, let me know what you thought!
House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson
Set in the 1950s, this beautifully written historical fiction broke my heart several times over.
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
All my enemies-to-lovers girlies need to read this one ASAP! One of my favorite romcoms I’ve read this year.
Expiration Dates by Rebecca Searle (out March 5th, 2024)
I received an advanced copy of this book from Atria, big thank you btw! The premise grabbed me IMMEDIATELY.
Daphne, a woman living in LA, believes the universe has a plan for her. Every time she meets a new man, she receives a slip of paper with his name and a number on it—the exact amount of time they will be together.
I read this book in only a few days, but I truly believe that the author wrote it as a means of letting readers everywhere know her thoughts on the restaurants around Los Angeles and for no other reason. You cannot convince me otherwise. In this 250 page novel, our protagonist dined out at maybe 30 real restaurants. And if you follow me on IG and watched my stories as I read, you know this is maybe my biggest book pet peeve. The twists in this book drove me nuts, too, but I can’t say I didn’t have an entertaining time reading this one. If you decide to, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I have a problem. The second it drops below 70 degrees, I feel like I need a whole new wardrobe for Meg Ryan Fall. Sweaters, boots, knitwear…it doesn’t matter that the temperature in LA will remain in the 80s this week. Like how you dress for the job you want, I’m dressing for the season I want. And I want fall.
Steve Madden Goucho Boots (as seen below) — these will be my go-to black boots all fall long. I wore them the other week to the Hollywood Bowl (brave, maybe dumb, I know, given the ammount of uphill climbing, but they remained SO comfortable the whole night!)
Tavi Active’s fall drop is coming soon, and you can get a 20% discount with code SAMANTHA
Did I buy this Abercrombie Knit Crew Tank (seen below) in 3 colors? Yes. Yes I did. I am obsessed.
I also ordered a bunch of fall tops from RIHOAS and you can get a discount with code Dockser
There are lots of exciting things coming up in October…
One of my best friends is getting married, I’m doing a little wine country getaway, and halloween book club is going to be a blast (keep an eye on your inbox for the official book announcement.)
But I’d be remised not to of course mention our reigning Queen of Football, Taylor Swift, is about to break movie theater box office records with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour only in theaters on October 13th.
Yes, I have my tickets to opening night. Yes, I’ll be dressing up. Yes, I’ll be trading friendship bracelets. I refuse to let go of the joy I experienced at the tour this summer, and I hope you won’t either.
Unrelated, my greatest hope is that by the end of this month, the SAG strike will be over with a fantastic deal reached. Until then, see you on the picket line!
