Reading Lately Book Club: April Pick
this is not a prank! it's time for another thriller, plus everything I read in March

Happy April (not fools)! Hoping there aren’t too many more showers in our future this month (at least not exclusively on the weekends here in LA anymore) but rain or shine, I’ve got your next read right here.
Our April book is No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall!
Three sisters, two murders, and too many secrets to count. “A propulsive and intricate psychological thriller. . . Meticulously plotted. . . Family connections prove both their damage and their worth in this community-focused thriller.” ―Kirkus (starred review)
My IRL book club crew decided after two romance heavy novels and a piece of historical fiction, we were overdue for a thriller. Our March read, The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, was also community focused. So it’ll be fun to transition into this brand new read, which I’m sure is wildly different, but starts off with a similar theme.
McBride’s book was easily one of my favorite reads so far this year, and if you have not yet read it, I very much recommend you do. The final chapter and acknowledgements had me sobbing. Worth a read for the conclusion alone (though the entire story is phenomenal and full of richly crafted, complex characters.) Upon finishing the book, I immediately had to reread chapter one. I was so completely moved.

If you have a friend who is looking for a book club, please let them know they are very much welcome in this virtual one! If you read along, tag us on our Reading Lately Book Club instagram page. You can find our backlist of book club reads here.

You’ll notice I read The Talented Mr. Ripley; the Netflix series, Ripley, starring Andrew Scott will have it’s Los Aneles premiere on Wednesday. I’m incredibly excited I’ll have the opportunity to chat with the cast on the carpet about all things books. So of course, I had to read the source material first! I have seen the 1999 movie, so spent the whole time reading just picturing that. I’m eager to see what this new adaptation does with the story.
