terrifyingly moseying
when willa said "everything feels very vivid today" on tonight's succession ... i felt that
Oh it has been a WEEK. Another devastating school shooting and elected officials who refuse to do anything. Gwyneth innocent. Trump indicted. And today at brunch, I saw a rat fall out of a tree onto the table next to mine (reader, I shrieked) so all this to say I’ll be keeping it brief tonight.
Watching Lately
Succession
Every line is PERFECT, I’m sorry. Obviously last week Tom was the big winner with the “ludicrously capacious bag” monologue. This week some favorite lines included (but are certainly not limited to, because again, EVERY line is perfect) …
Homework: The Show - Shiv
Terrifyingly moseying - Greg
Why am I looking at all this pizza? It’s killing me - Logan
Everything feels very vivid today - Willa (I’ll be saying this A LOT, apologies in advance)
He’s still Connor, but he won having drinks with us at an auction - Roman
I'm going to take you apart like a human string cheese - Kerry
If she comes back and doesn’t love me thats fine, too - Connor
(and the instantly iconic) I love you, but you are not serious people - Logan, again
Yellow Jackets
I will be watching this week’s episode after I hit send here, so no thoughts except I’m already sure it’ll affect my sleep this evening
Hunger Games
When I tell you I was SO excited to get in my bed last night and put on Hunger Games after going out ONLY TO FIND OUT it had been removed from Netflix after a few weeks on the platform? The odds are NOT ever in my favor, it seems
Reading Lately
Still reading Emily Henry’s Happy Place because it is absolutely breaking my heart, and I've been too stressed this past week to really add Wyn and Harriet’s CONSTANT miscommunications to my plate. But my march reading roundup is on my IG grid, in case you want a recap.
Eating + Drinking Lately
U Miami lost our Final Four game yesterday, so I can officially say my “being a regular at Barney’s Beanery” era is (temporarily) over. But what I learned during the madness that was march is that caring about a sports team passionately is an excellent way to channel my anxiety, so let’s go Dodgers etc!
Other food and bev highlights of the week…
Pizzana (Brentwood) — Their cacio e pepe pizza remains my favorite pie in the city
Fig Tree (Venice) — Go for brunch. Get a margarita and chilaquiles on their patio. Cannot recommend THAT enough
Tu Madre (West Hollywood) — They have $2 street tacos. the rest of the menu is good, but there’s truly no reason to order anything else
Bacari (W 3rd) — Bottomless brunch at it’s finest. I love it so much I will overlook the aforementioned rat
I also attended Spain’s Great Match Media Tasting at Soulmate in West Hollywood this past week, and trying all that delicious Spanish wine made me want a summer trip to Andalusia immediately. To quote the great Shiv Roy, “House red, do I dare?”
Products Lately
As if in honor of her Gwynocence, I received a PR package from Goop this week. I have yet to try the G.Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub Shampoo, which a friend told me she, regrettably, loves. But I am enjoying the GOOPGLOW Vita-C Brightening Eye Cream. It makes me want to wish my enemies well.
In conclusion, to quote the great Elaine Benes, “It is Sunday night, and I have got to unwind.” So if you read this far, once again, I appreciate you. And as always you can find me on Instagram and TikTok. Come say hi, and thanks for reading, and if you feel so inclined, let your friends know they should subscribe, too!
